The TP-Link TL-WA850RE is a 300Mbps 2.4GHz extender with signal strength LEDs, an Ethernet port, Access Point mode and setup through the Tether app. The D-Link DAP-1235 is a 300Mbps N300 extender with an external antenna, a smart signal indicator and WPS setup.
Both work with any standard WiFi router. Place the extender where it still gets a good signal from the router, not inside the dead zone itself. The TP-Link TL-WA850RE can. Run a network cable from your router to its Ethernet port and switch to Access Point mode for a stronger, more stable WiFi spot. The port can also connect a wired device such as a TV or desktop.
