Wired handheld barcode scanner price (1D and 2D)
A wired handheld scanner stays at the counter, takes its power from the USB cable and never needs charging. It is the cheapest way to start scanning.
Model | Reads | Good for | Connects by | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
1D only (laser) | Paper barcodes, 24 types, 20 to 200 mm away | USB, plug and play | Rs. 2,430 | |
1D + 2D (QR, Data Matrix) | Paper and screens, 1.5 m drop, IP42 | USB HID, USB virtual COM, RS-232 | Rs. 3,200 | |
1D + 2D (QR) | Paper and phone or PC screens | USB, no driver needed | Rs. 3,690 | |
1D + 2D (QR, Data Matrix, PDF417) | Fine 4 mil codes; manual, auto-sense or continuous trigger | USB keyboard, USB virtual serial, RS-232 | Rs. 4,500 |
Deli ES216: a laser scanner for 1D barcodes printed on packets, boxes and labels. It cannot read QR codes or codes on a phone screen.
Deli ES228 and iDPRT HN-1208SR: 2D imagers that read QR codes too, from paper or a phone screen.
iDPRT HN-1308SR: reads very small (4 mil) barcodes and can scan automatically when a code is held under it.
Wireless and Bluetooth barcode scanner price
A wireless barcode scanner runs on a rechargeable battery, so you can scan heavy items on the floor, stock on shelves or goods at the door without carrying them to the computer.
Model | Reads | Connects by | Also | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
1D + 2D | Bluetooth with a USB dongle, or wired USB | Reads screens, 1.5 m drop, IP42; also RS-232 | Rs. 5,000 | |
1D + 2D | 2.4 GHz USB receiver, about 20 to 30 m indoors | 2000 mAh battery; counting mode stores scans | Rs. 5,000 | |
1D + 2D | Wired, wireless and Bluetooth | Use it in the hand or on its stand | Rs. 6,120 |

iDPRT HN-1258SR: Bluetooth through the USB dongle in the box, or a USB cable when you want it wired.
Deli S228W: 2.4 GHz wireless with a USB receiver and one-button pairing. In counting mode it stores scans in its memory and uploads them later, which helps with stock taking. The range is about 20 to 30 m indoors, depending on walls and interference.
Deli ES228BW: wired, wireless or Bluetooth, used in the hand or standing on the counter.
Desk and omnidirectional barcode scanners for POS counters
A desk (presentation) scanner sits on the counter and reads a code from any direction as soon as it is shown, so the cashier keeps both hands free. Supermarkets and busy shops use them at the POS counter.
Model | Type | Reads | Connects by | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Omnidirectional, scans as soon as a code is shown | Paper and phone screens, including payment codes | USB | Rs. 5,800 | |
Desktop stand, adjustable angle | Paper and screens, 5 to 190 mm away | USB | Rs. 5,850 | |
Omnidirectional, infrared sensing | Paper and screens, a phone screen up to 300 mm away | USB, RS-232 | Ask for price |

The iDPRT HP-2208SR is priced on request: ask us on its page or at the store.
Barcode scanner stand
Model | What it is | Price |
|---|---|---|
Freestanding holder with an adjustable angle and anti-slip base, for hands-free scanning at the counter | Rs. 1,260 |
A stand turns a handheld scanner into a hands-free one at the counter, and you can still lift it out for heavy items. Ask us whether it fits the scanner you have.
1D or 2D (QR code) barcode scanner?
1D scanners read the line barcodes (EAN, UPC, Code 128) printed on most packaged goods and on the labels a barcode printer makes. The Deli ES216 is 1D only.
2D scanners read those and also QR codes, Data Matrix and PDF417, from paper and, on most models, from a phone screen. Pick 2D if you scan QR codes, tickets or codes customers show on their phones.
Handheld or desk scanner?
Handheld: point and pull the trigger. Best when items are big, heavy or on shelves, and for stock taking.
Desk / omnidirectional: show the item and it scans. Fastest at a busy billing counter with small items.
Handheld on a stand: a middle way, such as the Deli ES228BW or any handheld on the Deli E15130 stand.
Which barcode scanner should I buy?
Barcode scanner for a kirana shop or supermarket
A small kirana shop billing packaged goods can start with the Deli ES216 1D scanner (Rs. 2,430). A supermarket counter is faster with a desk scanner such as the iDPRT HP-2108SR omnidirectional scanner (Rs. 5,800), with a receipt printer and a cash drawer on the same counter.
Barcode scanner for a pharmacy
Medicine strips and boxes often carry small barcodes. A 2D scanner that reads fine codes, such as the iDPRT HN-1308SR (4 mil) (Rs. 4,500), reads both line barcodes and Data Matrix codes. Print your own shelf and price labels with a 2-inch barcode label printer.
Barcode scanner for a restaurant or café billing counter
Many restaurants bill from the menu on screen and do not need a scanner. If you also sell packaged drinks and snacks, a wired 2D scanner such as the Deli ES228 (Rs. 3,690) is enough. See our thermal printer price guide for receipt and kitchen printers.
Barcode scanner for a warehouse and inventory
Go wireless. The Deli S228W wireless scanner (Rs. 5,000) stores scans in counting mode for stock taking, and the iDPRT HN-1258SR Bluetooth scanner (Rs. 5,000) survives 1.5 m drops. Pair them with a 4-inch label printer for shelf and carton labels: see the barcode and label printer price list.
Shops using IRD-approved billing software
The scanner only types the product code into the billing screen; the invoice, VAT and IRD records come from your software, so any scanner here works with it. If your POS uses a serial (COM) port, pick a model with RS-232: the iDPRT HN-1208SR, HN-1308SR, HN-1258SR or HP-2208SR.
How to set up a barcode scanner
USB keyboard (HID) mode: plug the scanner into a USB port, click in the barcode or product code field of your billing software and scan. The code appears as if typed. The Deli ES216, ES228 and S228W are plug and play with no driver, and the iDPRT handhelds list USB HID (keyboard) mode.
Works with any billing software that accepts a typed product code, and with Excel or Google Sheets for simple stock lists.
Wireless pairing: plug the USB receiver or Bluetooth dongle into the computer and pair the scanner with it (the Deli S228W pairs with one button). Charge the battery fully before the first use.
Serial (RS-232) or virtual COM: for older POS systems and software that reads a COM port. The models that support it are listed above.
Can a barcode scanner take Fonepay or QR payments?
No. Customers pay a Fonepay or bank QR by scanning your shop's QR code with their own phone; you do not need a barcode scanner for that. A 2D scanner reads a QR code and types the text inside it. Some desk scanners, such as the iDPRT HP-2108SR, read payment codes on phone screens, but they only pass the code to the computer: taking the payment needs billing or payment software that supports it.
